Our Story

Sanchez Distributors, Inc. was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1987 after Roberto Sanchez Sr. recognized the need for high-quality Mexican products delivered with exceptional customer service.

The company began importing dried peppers for large regional grocers but soon expanded into selling corn husks for tamales, capturing significant market share over time after popularizing a new product that improved production efficiencies for high-volume tamale manufacturers. Named for its heart-shaped design, the “corazon” features an average of 120 husks per bag that are horizontally cross-stacked to maximize usage speed on the tamale line.

Today, Sanchez Distributors is partnered with agricultural co-operatives throughout the Mexican states of Jalisco, Colima, and Nayarit, and processes over 250 million husks annually. The company focuses on generating value for its customers by providing quality, stability, and service through a controlled procurement system, diligent inventory planning, and transparent communication.
